Animal Control TruckThe Matthews Police Department Animal Services Unit consists of one full time civilian Animal Services Technician, Officer Jeremy Schnabel. While he is primarily available during normal business hours, the Police Patrol Division, as well as Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care and Control, assist in assurng 24-hour emergency animal services.  The Animal Services Unit encourages and assists owners with responsible pet ownership, resolves issues when they arise, and educates the community about peacefully co-existing with the wildlife that is abundant in our area. Animal Services Licensing:
  All dogs, cats and ferrets four months of age or older inside the city limits of Matthews must be vaccinated for rabies as well as possess a current Town of Matthews Animal License.  In order to properly process your license application or to obtain an Animal License, you must present proof of a current rabies vaccination for each pet to be licensed. If you do not have a copy of your pet's Rabies Certificate that you received when the vaccination was given, you may be able to get an copy from the veterinarian that performed the vaccination. To receive the Animal License rate for sterile animals you must also present proof from a veterinarian that your animal has been spayed or neutered.              

Licensing Fees: One-year license: $10 for spayed/neutered  /  $30 for fertile animals
